She awoke on time and made it to class before the final bell. During lunch, she only stared at her bento and poked at it with the chopsticks. Her friends thought something had taken place because she only responded with nods and grunts. After school, Usagi and the others met up to discuss the possible birthday bash for Moshi. "Minna," Usagi said as she hooked the heel of her dress shoe over the lower rung of the fence. "Should we still have the party or what?" Makoto nodded, watching a butterfly float by. "She's down about something. I tried to get it out of her yesterday, but she only grunted at me." "A party always lifts my spirits," Minako said, throwing her head back to face the sunshine. "Besides, you see how she's been acting lately?" Ami nodded thoughtfully. "Hai, she's rarely paid attention to anything these past few days." The shinto maiden pushed a dark lock of hair over her shoulder. "You don't think it has to do with Hoshi, do you?" A growl was heard as Makoto punched her hand with a fist. "If he did something to hurt her, I'll turn him inside out!" Ami placed a hand on Makoto's shoulder. "Iie, Mako-chan. No need to get angry. We don't know what's happened. Mo-chan won't tell anyone about it." The brunette smirked. "I can wait," she said patiently, earning a round of large eyed stares from her friends. For the next few minutes, they all were quiet, pondering the possibility of what had Moshi feeling so down. They were so deep in thought that they almost didn't spot Moshi walking by with her head down. Everything about Moshi said something was wrong. Her shoulders were hunched, her head was down, even her ponytail seemed to droop. Rei sighed. Moshi looked like she wasn't paying attention to anything. She could probably walk out into traffic and not notice it! "Oi, Mo-chan!" Rei called. She walked over and grabbed Moshi's good hand. Moshi blinked and looked up. "Oh, Rei-chan. What's going on?" she asked, sounding confused. Usagi appeared on her other side. "Mo-chan, how are you doing?" Concern for her friend shone in the girl's deep blue eyes. Moshi saw the others appear around her. "Oh, I'm fine. Just having trouble getting around this sprained wrist." Minako and Usagi had the grace to blush at the comment and giggle nervously. "Mo-chan," Ami started, placing a hand on Moshi's shoulder. "I know I said this before, but you know that you can always talk to us if something's bothering you." Moshi smiled. "I know, Ami-chan. Thanks, guys." An awkward moment of silence passed through the group. Minako hissed and elbowed Rei. "Oh, Mo-chan. Tomorrow we're studying at Minako-chan's instead of my place." A dark eyebrow cocked in question. "Sleep over?" Moshi asked. They all nodded simultaneously. "Hai!" "I'll even make fried noodles!" Makoto exclaimed. "Fried noodles?" Usagi and Moshi said together, small pools of drool forming around their mouths. Everyone started laughing at the two girls. "What's so funny?" they said together in unison again. This made everyone laugh even harder. Ami pulled out her scheduler. "Same time, okay?" Minako shook her head. "Iie, Ami-chan. My parents will still be at home. So six is better." Moshi nodded and marked the change on her scheduler. "Six is fine. I've gotta run. Ja ne!" "Ja ne, Mo-chan!" they all said together. * * * * Moshi arrived at home around her usual time. She checked the mailbox and hurried to the elevator. When she entered the apartment, she saw that Mamoru was in the kitchen. "Ru-chan, tadaima!" she called as she kicked out her tennis shoes. "Ah okaeri nasai, Midget!" Mamoru called from the kitchen. Jadeite poked his head around the doorway. "Mosite! You're back!" He came bounding down the hallway to his friend. Moshi blanched. Her life was now upside down thanks to him. "Yes, I'm back, but I have homework I gotta do first." Jadeite's nose twitched. "Homework? Boy, you were right. Your life is different now." "I told you so," Moshi stated, heading towards the kitchen. She poked her head in and saw Mamoru at the stove. Jadeite quietly slipped by and sat at the kitchen table. "Midget," he said, stirring a pot of rice. "What exactly happened?" Moshi sighed and launched into an explanation. She described everything from the moment she and Hoshi exited her bedroom. "He couldn't handle it. I guess it was just too much information for him to handle." Mamoru wiped his hands on the pink frilly apron around his neck. "Have you tried contacting him?" She shook her head. "I know he wouldn't answer me. I don't want to force him to stay if he wants to leave." Jadeite stood up. "This is all my fault! I should have never come back for you. I was stupid enough to think that we'd be able to pick up right where we left off." Moshi glared at him. "It's not your fault. If this was all too much for him, it's better I know this now instead of years down the road." Jadeite walked to the doorway. "For what it's worth. I'm sorry, Mosite, iie, Moshi-chan." He turned and walked away, vanishing as he did so. Moshi ran to his vanishing figure. "Jadeite-kun!" When she reached where he had vanished, she cursed loudly. For once, Mamoru didn't chastise her on her use of language. He knew he'd be pretty close to cursing himself. "I'll be in my room," she called angrily, stalking into her bedroom and closing the door. * * * * After leaving Mamoru and Moshi's apartment, Jadeite walked around Juuban for at least an hour. He was partially angry with Hoshi for what he did, but on the on the other hand, he could sympathize with him. He couldn't blame him, but he felt that it was low of him to do so after Moshi revealed such a big part of her life to him. Now he was near the downtown area, checking the local spots to where he thought Hoshi might be. He was passing the park when he saw him lounging on one of the benches, staring at his feet. "Hoshi-san?" Jadeite said as he approached him slowly. Hoshi looked up to see that same blond guy from before walking towards him slowly. He wasn't wearing that weird gray uniform this time. He was clad in a pair of jeans and a plain tee shirt. Hoshi snorted under his breath. "What do you want? Shouldn't you be at home with your girlfriend?" Jadeite sat down stiffly next to Hoshi, resisting the urge to belt him one. "She was never my girlfriend. I believe you had that honor." He turned his pale gaze on the younger man. "But you and I both know that this has nothing to do with me." "What do you mean by that?" Hoshi asked nonchalant, trying to put up a front of total indifference. Jadeite idly plucked a tall blade of grass and toyed with it. "The mere fact that she was possibly evil in her past scares you." Hoshi cocked a reddish eyebrow. "It has nothing to do with THAT!" The ex general looked back at Hoshi. "Then what is it?" Hands clasped, Hoshi looked down at his feet in silence. He wasn't sure if this guy knew that Moshi was Sailorearth, so he didn't bother mentioning that was the problem. What really irritated Hoshi was he felt that if it ever came down to it, she would have to protect him and not the other way around. Call it stupid male hormones, but he felt that there was nothing in his power for him to protect her. Maybe that's what she liked, he was ordinary. No powers, no past hang ups. Finally deciding to speak, he said, "I can't say, that's between me and her." "Then sitting in the park moping like an idiot isn't going to solve anything," Jadeite stated, tossing the grass to the side. Hoshi glared at Jadeite. "Just who the hell do you think you are anyway?!" The ex general's gaze softened. "An old friend who happens to care about Mosi--Moshi very much." He stood up and dusted off his pants. "If it's any news to you, Moshi's friends are holding a party for her at Minako's house. Be there by five." Before Hoshi could respond, the blond man had vanished into the darkness. * * * * Moshi, laden with a backpack so she wouldn't have to use her busted wrist, arrived at Minako's four minutes past six the next day. She would have been earlier, but Mamoru held her up with a goofy request for some chocolate. "I swear," she moaned, ringing the doorbell. "Ru-chan eats more sweets than I do!" The door slowly opened and Minako's head emerged from the darkness. "Ah, Mo-chan, you're on time! Let me get that backpack!" She bounced out the doorway and helped Moshi take off her backpack. "I hope your wrist feels better," she offered, leading Moshi into the house. Moshi felt her eyes go blind from the sudden adjustment from light to darkness. "Oi, it's too dark!" she exclaimed as she ran into an end table, cursing under her breath. Minako giggled grabbing Moshi's arm. "This way!" She led Moshi down the hallway into the dining area. Moshi stumbled at Minako's side, trying to not bang her wrist into any sudden appearing walls. Suddenly, the lights came on overhead and someone grabbed her shoulders. "SURPRISE!" voices yelled all around her. Moshi gave a squeak and passed out. From her spot at the table, Hotaru giggled. "Usually, I'm the one who faints!" Michiru grinned. "I'd faint to if someone jumped me from out of nowhere." Helping Moshi to her feet, Haruka placed an innocent grin on her face. "No harm done, ne, Moshi-chan?" "Wha?" Moshi said dazed. Setsuna chimed in. "Why am I inclined to believe there's nothing innocent about that grin?" "Because, it's Haruka," Michiru offered. The rest of the Senshi laughed at Haruka stuck out her tongue at Setsuna and Michiru. Haruka got Moshi seated at a spot at the long dining table that was surrounded with happy Senshi. "What's all this?" she asked confused. Usagi snapped a party hat on Moshi's head. "We're celebrating your birthday!" Moshi looked at the grinning people around her and wondered if they suddenly went insane and forgot to tell her. "Minna, my birthday was MONTHS ago!" Another grinning blonde appeared at her side. "Of course, silly!" Minako said, plopping down in the chair next to Moshi. "But you weren't here to celebrate it!" Rei, Makoto, and Ami went into the kitchen to retrieve the large platters of food that Makoto, with help from Michiru, spent hours making. Plates of many of Moshi's favorites were placed before her. For the next hour, celebration rang throughout the Aino household as friends talked and ate, stuffing themselves to the brim. Moshi was sure she wouldn't be able to eat any of the marble cake. She peered at the frosted cake and then at Mamoru. "Just had to have chocolate in it, didn't it?" Mamoru grinned and patted Moshi's birthday hat. "But of course! Make a wish!" Closing her eyes, she made a wish. "I wish Hoshi was here." Pursing her lips, she blew out the candles. Little did Moshi know, she was going to get her wish that night. * * * * Jadeite had debated appearing at the party. He'd seen the flyer Mamoru had in his room. When he returned to the apartment later, he'd entered through Mamoru's windows instead of Moshi's. When he was on his way out, he saw the flyer on his dresser, exclaiming surprise party. Surprise party, huh? It sounded as if it was going to be interesting. His interest was piqued and he decided to make an appearance. He made sure to dress in one of the jeans that Mamoru had given him. Coupled with the tee shirt, he looked like an ordinary person. He ran a hand through the fair hair before pushing the doorbell. He hummed a tune under his breath as he waited. Slowly the door creaked open and a blonde poked her head out. "Hai," she said, stopping with a small gasp. "Anata!" Jadeite looked down and saw Usagi gawking at him. "This was a BAD idea," Jadeite thought. "Is Moshi-chan here?" he asked, trying to play it off. "Don't give me that!" Usagi exclaimed, going for her locket. "What are you doing here, Jadeite!?" "Oh crap," Jadeite thought. "I'm not here to cause any trouble! I'm just here to wish Moshi happy birthday!" he exclaimed, putting his hands up in a defense gesture. More girls appeared at the door. Lucky him, it was the rest of the Senshi. He recognized Ami and Rei because he'd seen them transform. The last two, a brunette and another blonde looked unfamiliar, but he was sure they were Senshi too. Moshi pushed her way through the crowd of Senshi. "What's going on here? Jadeite?! What the hell are you doing HERE?!" Jadeite smiled. "Just came by to say happy birthday!" Moshi slapped her forehead with her good hand. "You dolt! You might as well walked into a lion den with a pork chop around your neck!" Rei glared at Moshi. "You know he's been awake? All this time?!" Moshi sighed. "Hai, but I didn't want to alarm you. He's not here to cause trouble. He woke up because he felt I was still alive." "Oh Kami-sama," Makoto gasped. "He thought you were still Mosite?!" When Moshi nodded at her question, Makoto groaned loudly. The Senshi looked back into the house to see the Outers making their way to the door. "Oh crap!" Moshi exclaimed, grabbing Jadeite's hand. "We better get you outta here, they'll cream you!" "Who?" Jadeite asked as Moshi dragged him away. Haruka arrived at the door first, watching Moshi speed away with some guy. "Who was that?" She felt her senses kick in as she caught a full glimpse of the blond man. Without further words, Haruka sped out the door, followed by the rest of the Outer Senshi. "This is going to be ugly," Mamoru commented as he followed. Wordlessly, the other Senshi followed as well. * * * * Hoshi was walking towards the park at the same time Moshi and Jadeite was in route. He had a small box in his hands, a birthday gift for Moshi. He'd hoped that she would forgive him for the way he acted. What Jadeite said to him in the park really made him think. How could he fault her for her past? Something that she had no real control over. She'd never faulted him for the numbers of girlfriends he had before. His thoughts were interrupted when he spotted Moshi dragging the blond in tow. "Moshi!" he cried out, waving one long arm. Moshi froze mid-step and turned around. Not Hoshi too. If the Outers caught up to them, it could really get ugly then. Without a word, she raced over, grabbed Hoshi's arm, and dragged him along. She saw the Inner Senshi following from the rooftops of various buildings. She prayed that they would at least protect Hoshi from Outers. As they ran, Moshi saw the Outers hopping along more rooftops, keeping a keen eye on the trio. Moshi turned into a construction site, ducking behind one of the large cranes. "You didn't think you could outrun us, did you?" Uranus said as she stepped into view, flanked by the rest of the Outer Senshi. Moshi took a deep breath and stood before Hoshi and Jadeite. "Never thought it for a second, Sailoruranus." One of Neptune's aqua eyebrows quirked. "Ara, you haven't told him everything, ne, Moshi-chan." Jadeite gawked at the conversation between Moshi and the Senshi, she seemed to be speaking with them on even terms. "Told me what? A cold sweat broke out on Moshi's face. "You can't make me!" she cried, throwing her hands widespread. Hoshi, having moved to where the Inner Senshi had appeared, bit his lip. Jadeite didn't know that Moshi was a Senshi. Jadeite, now thoroughly confused, pushed Moshi to the side and glared at her. "Make you do what?!" "This!" Uranus cried, holding one hand into the air. "World Shaking!" A golden spark appeared in her palm and grew to the size of a basketball. It collided with the ground and sped a path towards Jadeite. Hoshi watched horrified as Moshi jumped before the path of the attack. "Moshi, henshin yo!" he cried. Jadeite felt Moshi's arms wrap around him as she yelled, "Earth Infinite Power, make up!" A bright light surrounded them both as they hit the ground, sliding slightly. When he opened his eyes, he saw Moshi in a sailor fuku, standing over him. His eyes grew in size as he saw his former friend dressed in the fuku of the people they once fought. "Nan da? You're a Senshi!?" he asked, his voice squeaking slightly. Earth nodded sadly. "Hai. Watashi wa Sailorearth desu." The shaken ex-general could do nothing but shake his head in response. Things were definitely out of his league this time. He stood up, dusting his pants off. "You're not going to attack me too?" "Iie, Jadeite-kun," Earth said, "I would never do that." She turned and faced the Outer Senshi, glaring at them as she spoke. "Minna, I don't want it to come down to this. I know I'm not nearly as powerful, but I will do my best to protect Jadeite!" She took a defensive stance. "Throw me your best, if you have to! I won't give up!" From their viewing stance, the Inner Senshi watched. They felt complied to join in and protect Jadeite, but they knew this was something Earth had to do by herself. "I wonder who she sounds like," Mars commented, glancing at Sailormoon, who was watching what was happening with great interest. Jupiter shrugged. "I knew it was bound to happen someday." "Let's just be prepared for whatever may happen," Venus stated, walking a bit closer to the group. Earth stood her ground, hands planted on her hips in a defiant stance. "You don't scare me!" Uranus smirked. "Thought I'd never see the day. If that doesn't scare you, then maybe this one will! World Shaking!" Earth powered up for the Power Gradation, but instead of heaving the pillar at Uranus, she threw it into the path of the World Shaking. The power of Life and of the Wind collided, creating a large explosion. Everyone was nearly rocked off their feet. Pluto smiled. "Ingenious, I wonder how she would react to this one. Dead Scream." Earth threw a Cosmic Lightning at the ball of purple energy. The bolt of lighting pierced the ball, forcing it to explode outward in many directions. Earth jumped back, in front of Jadeite, feeling a piece of the exploding lodge into her chest. "Mosite!" Jadeite cried as he felt her body go limp in his arms. "Mosite-chan!" "Moshi!" Hoshi cried, fighting against the grips of Mercury and Jupiter. * * * * Earth felt herself floating, buoyant upon some unseen wave. She felt her hair fluttering about her face, undone from its ponytail. Opening her eyes, she saw that she was just hovering in some unknown pale purple space. Looking above, she saw a figure floating down towards her. She was dressed in a fuku, but it looked different from any fuku she'd seen before. "Wake up, Senshi of Life," the girl said, touching Earth with a hand. On her wrist was a golden bracer that shone softly. Earth moved her heavy head towards the voice. "Nani?" "I said, Wake up, Senshi of Life," she repeated, grabbing one of Earth's hands and pulling her upright. Finally coming into view of the confused Senshi, Earth noted that she looked like herself, slightly older. Her fuku consisted of a three layered skirt, the top layer was white, second purple, and the final layer was lemon yellow. She didn't have any sleeves or gloves, only a pair of golden bracers on her wrists. She had on white boots with purple V's and tiny infinity signs. The wings that made the chest bow, now had two layers of wings held in place with a purple heart and the long ribbons were a bright lemon yellow. "Who are you?" Earth asked. "I am Sailorutopia," she stated. Earth boggled at what she said. "But, I saw a different Utopia! How can you be different!?" Utopia folded her arms and shrugged. "That was just a cover, I wasn't sure if I should have shown myself to you at that moment." "So what happens now? I'm no longer Sailorearth?" Earth asked. Utopia smiled. "We're now, Sailorutopia." She reached out, the bracers on her hands glowing brightly. As she touched Earth's shoulders, Earth felt herself starting to faint again. When the darkness enclosed her, she heard Utopia say faintly, "Mezamenasai jinsei no senshi yo!" * * * * When the smoke cleared from the connection of the Dead Scream and Cosmic Lightning. Hoshi was found kneeling next to Earth and Jadeite. Jadeite, feeling Hoshi's glare on him, allowed him to take Earth into his arms. "Moshi, wake up!" Hoshi cried. Earth opened her eyes. "Hoshi? What happened?" Uranus scoffed. "We were taking care of business here. Now are you going to 'defend' him or sit there gawking like an idiot." Earth pushed away from Hoshi and stood shakily on her feet. Her fuku looked burn and torn, one long ribbon was ripped off. Her fuku was nearly in shreds. "I never gawk, shall we continue?" "She's going to defend him to the end," Uranus whispered to Neptune, who nodded. Saturn's purple eyes brightened. "It is time. Quickly, Neptune!" "Deep Submerge!" Neptune cried, creating a large tidal wave of water. The ball of water headed towards the trio. Earth felt her heartbeat quicken in fear that Hoshi would be hit. She wouldn't have enough time to throw them both to the side. "IIE!" Earth screamed at the top of her lungs. The infinity sign that was held in chains on her forehead started to glow. It shined brightly and shattered into pieces. The symbol on her forehead started to glow as she thrusted her hands forward. Two golden bracers appeared on her arms and glowed as the Deep Submerge hit her hands. "EARTH!" the Inner Senshi cried when they saw the ball collided into the weakened Senshi. They'd just known that she was done for. No one could take an Outer Senshi attack head on like that and possibly survive. When the smoke cleared, Earth was still standing, hands still thrusted out. No longer dressed in the fuku of Supersailorearth, she was now Sailorutopia. "She...she evolved!" Jupiter stammered. Venus raced forward, a love chain already in her hands. "Stop this now!" she cried, standing before the Outer Senshi. "Haven't you proved enough? You know she's not going to stand down!" Neptune shrugged. "We've done what we've came to do." With that comment, the four Outers turned to leave. "Just a damn minute here!" Hoshi cried. "What do you mean by that?! You came to nearly kill her? Nearly scare me to death? Are you all sick freaks or something!?" The smallest Outer turned to Hoshi. "Moshi-chan is a dear friend of ours, we were merely helping along." "Matte..." Utopia started. "You mean, you only did this to make me power up?! This had nothing to do with Jadeite-kun?!" Pluto nodded. "Clearly he wasn't a threat, we weren't even considering destroying him." Jadeite sighed with relief. "That's good news." Utopia looked at the bracers on her wrists. "So, that's it, I've finally achieved my highest power." As the Outers walked away, Saturn said, "No, Utopia, it's only the beginning." * * * * The next day, after school, Jadeite announced to Moshi and Mamoru that he would be leaving. The trio stood on the balcony; Mamoru was there for emotional support. This would probably be the final tie to Moshi's past that would be severed. "Who would have thought that Mosite would be a Senshi in her future," Jadeite said with a chuckle. Moshi grinned. "If you'd asked me about that then, I probably would have whacked you with my blade." Jadeite placed an expression of mock horror on his face. "And give Nephi-chan the pleasure?" At the mention of that name, they both started to laugh. The laughter died down as each remembered that Nephrite was no more. "I wonder what happened to him," Moshi said quietly. "I'd rather just remember him the way he was, as with Zoisite and Kunzite," Jadeite said soberly. Moshi nodded at his comment. She looked up at the sky, the sun was hiding behind a cloud, hinting that it was ready to go to sleep. "Where are you off to, Jadeite-kun?" Jadeite smiled. "I don't know, maybe I'll stay in Tokyo for a while. I was considering leaving all together." Moshi felt a tear sneak a trail down her cheek. "Don't be a stranger." She grabbed him in a hug, muffling her sobs with his shoulder. "After all these years? I won't," he replied. The two parted and Moshi watched as he started to hover into the air. "Don't forget to write!" Moshi called, waving to his retreating figure. "I won't!" Jadeite called as he vanished into the early darkness. Moshi waited until he was fully gone to break down into tears. Mamoru simply supplied the tissue and the shoulder. * * * * "Minna!" Moshi cried as she ran into crown parlor. "Guess what I got yesterday!" Usagi scooted over in the booth to make more room for Moshi. Makoto looked up from her soda. "What is it?" With a large smile, Moshi presented what she was holding. "I got a postcard from Jadeite-kun!" "Really?" Ami asked. "What did he say!?" Reading from the card, Moshi said. "He says he found Nephrite's old mansion and is living quite happily there. It also says, he found a job as a daycare provider at Tods and Tots in Azabu. But get this, it's signed Je Daitou!" Usagi gasped. "That's the same named he used when he had that love line show all those years ago! That sneaky devil!" Moshi looked at Usagi with large eyes. "Love line? What was THAT?" Usagi giggled. "Remind me to tell you of the earlier adventures some day." Luna grumbled from Moshi's right. "Yes and watch as she leaves out all the parts where she chickened out." Rei snickered. "Who would have thought a former Dark Kingdom lord would find a job as a daycare provider?" "I just hope he doesn't drive that fancy red car Nephrite had," Ami said. "How can he explain it when he's making only so much money?" Moshi grinned. "Only you would think of something like that, Ami-chan." Artemis peered over Minako's shoulder at Moshi. "Sa, Moshi, are you feeling better now?" Moshi smiled happily as she snagged one of Usagi's pork buns. "I feel 100 percent better!" "Mou!" Usagi exclaimed. "That's my pork bun!" "But it tastes so good," Moshi said between bites as she scarfed it down. "How would you like to taste my fist!" Usagi screamed, chasing Moshi out of the parlor. "Funny, didn't Minako-chan chase her out of her like a few weeks ago?" Rei asked as they watched Moshi and Usagi hit the sidewalk. Minako nodded. "I guess Mako-chan's turn is next." Oshimai, da you!
