She knew the girl was a certified genius, but was a slow one at that. They didn't have much time left. Those Senshi would start to figure things out at the rate the so-called spirits were appearing. Hei watched Toshi pace, seeing her ponytail pump up and down with each step. "Ano, Toshi-chan?" Hei asked. Toshi paused mid-step and turned glittering black eyes on the unsuspecting Hei. "Nan desu ka!?" Hei shrank back into the haven of the couch. "Why are you angry?" A hand went up and smoothed back the dark purple bangs. "Things aren't going according to plan. We still haven't gotten Kakoto and Mimi started in school yet and Perenity is impatient!" Ainako waved Toshi's anger off with a hand. "Oh calm down. You always worry too much. My sister will pull through and things will get back on track." Toshi sighed. "That's what I'm afraid of, your sister. Have you forgotten the last time she went off?" "Oh yeah, she did decimate that entire city," Ainako said with a sheepish grin. "Don't worry, Kako-chan's better this time. She's promised no destruction... at least on a mass scale." A cold drop of sweat slid down Toshi's face. "I ask myself each day, just how in the hell did I get involved with a group of psychos!" Ainako and Hei simply giggled. * * * * Another day, another day of school, Moshi thought miserably. She was still aching all over from her nightly jaunts her spirit had taken. Last night was the first full night of sleep she'd had in ages. She desperately wanted to crawl up into her desk and sleep for an eternity. She was just about to pull her math book over her head when Sekano interrupted class with another announcement. There were yet again new students to add to the class. Hearing Ami and Makoto gasping, she peered up from her desk to see mirror images of her friends standing before the class. One was tall with dark green hair and auburn eyes. The second was shorter with bright blue hair and dark blue eyes. "Kami-sama, now what?!" Moshi said with a moan, sitting up straight and wiping her eyes. There was something odd about the taller girl, who introduced herself as Mino Kakoto. Her eyes seemed intelligent, but there was something else lurking in the depths. The other girl, called Azuno Mimi, seemed slouchy and tired. Her blue eyes were barely open as she tried to introduce herself. Moshi really didn't like the way Toshi and Ainako were grinning from ear to ear, like the cat that captured the canary. Class was interrupted for that short period then everything ran smoothly for the rest of the day, of course, Moshi was still tired. Feeling highly irritated, she took her lunchtime to nap under the tree in the courtyard. After waking up and quickly downing her food, she felt infinitely better. She couldn't help but remember what Mamoru told her about his newly found power. He showed her the sword decorated with the words, "Seikai's Legacy." Not to mention his psychic abilities had jumped over 100 percent in power. He could now track anyone by simply touching the ground and getting in tuned with the planet. She had to admit, when he touched her after waking up, she felt her own powers grow. She could probably compete with the powers of Mars or even Jupiter when before she wasn't even as strong as Mercury. Something was definitely on the horizon. Moshi didn't like that. "Feeling better?" Usagi said, peering around the tree. Moshi looked up, moving a dark tendril out her face. "Much better, thanks." Usagi came from around the tree with Shi and Miko in tow. Shi had a slightly disgusted look on her face. To keep people from confusing her with Usagi, Moshi made her wear blue bows around her odangos. It was scary how Miko was continuously confused with Minako. If Miko had blue eyes and wore a red bow, they could be twins. "What were you thinking about?" Miko asked as she plopped down on the grass next to Moshi. Moshi shrugged, digging into her bento for another rice ball. "I was thinking about Ru-chan and his whole powering up thing." Shi nodded, tugging at one of the bows on her odangos. "You've felt it?" "Hai, it was... scary," she replied. Usagi didn't like it either. Whenever they powered up, that meant the new enemy was much more powerful than ones before, but what enemy could be more powerful than Galaxia, or her sister, Nova? * * * * "Mo-chan!" Usagi screamed as she ran towards the racetrack. The two girls were members of Juuban High's track team. Usagi was a noted sprinter, while Moshi was known for her throwing. So far, Moshi was number one in javelin throw and discus. Together they made a great team. Sometimes Usagi would put her tiara skills to use in shot put or discus. Since they joined the team, Juuban had two new championships under its belt. Today, they had training, which took place everyday after school for about an hour. As usual, Usagi had detention and could only make the last half-hour. The coach watched with apparent aggravation as one of his star players was late again. Usagi bowed before the coach. "Gomen, sensei!" She raced over to the bench and put her belongings underneath. She tied the laces on her racing shoes before taking place next to Moshi. Moshi grinned. "Late again, ne. Takawa-sensei is in a mood today! He's made us do 10 laps before you even showed up!" Usagi groaned. Whenever Takawa-sensei was in a mood, he made sure everyone suffered. Lately, she had been his number one victim. Moshi checked her laces one more time. "You know, Usagi-chan, if you go to bed when I do, you wouldn't be caught sleeping in class." "Biidah!" Usagi said sticking her tongue out at Moshi. "So what if you go to bed early, you're STILL late for class!" "Well, you know what you're problem is," Taruka said, taking place in the line up next to Moshi, causing both girls to stare at him. "You have no grace, no class, no tact. It's hard to be perfect like me." He ran a hand through his dark blue locks. Usagi saw the expression cross Moshi's face and she jumped first to answer. "Excuse me, Mr. Perfect, but I don't remember you being in this conversation!" "Just an observation," Taruka said with a delicate sniff. "I got an observation for you," Moshi started. Before she could finish, Usagi jumped on her and covered her mouth with a hand. "Murphphrphhrh!" "All right, guys! 10 more laps since you're so talkative today!" Takawa-sensei roared after blowing his whistle. The entire Juuban Track and Field team let out a collective groan as they started the trot around the track. * * * * Usagi, grateful for not having detention this time, made her way towards fruit crown parlor where she hoped everyone else would be waiting for their usual after school snacking. Everyone would be there except Moshi, who was at the library tutoring Okawa Yamada. Pausing before the crosswalk, she pondered going to the library to snoop and see what Okawa's agenda really was. Did he like Moshi? Or was he in love with Ami? Feeling a pair of horns appear by her odangos, Usagi turned the corner and headed for the library. Behind her, watching from around the corner, someone was watching Usagi and a small grin appeared on their face. "Heh." * * * * Moshi was on the verge of ripping her hair out and run out screaming. No matter what she tried, it seemed Okawa was dumb when it came to biology. She tried explaining parts of the plants in ways he could understand, but to no avail was the information sinking in that blond skull of his. She couldn't understand it, were all blonds this out of it?! Considering the blonds she knew, so far they were batting 100 in the stupid department. She instantly thought of Iko, Sailor Breeze. Iko definitely wasn't stupid, but she performed the perfect blonde imitation. She then thought of Usagi and Minako. A cold bead of sweat slid down her face, this was going to be a long two hours. She was preparing to dive back into the parts of the plant when Usagi's odangoed head popped over the bookcase. "Hi, hi, Mo-chan!" "Ah, Usagi-chan!" Moshi said with some relief, maybe Usagi could get her out of this mess. When she saw the confused expression on Yamada's face, she continued. "Oh, Okawa Yamada-san, this is Tsukino Usagi-chan, one of my best friends." Usagi waved and vanished, only to reappear at the table and sit down. "Nice to meet you, Yamada-san." "Doi tashimashite, Usagi-san," Yamada said with a grin. Usagi watched with interested as Moshi desperately tried to explain biology to Yamada. When she saw that Moshi wasn't getting anywhere, she decided to try and intervene, playing translator. "You'd have to excuse Mo-chan, this is her best subject so she has a tendency to get a little over critical like Ami-chan," Usagi said, opening her notebook. Moshi watched astounded, as Usagi was able to translate everything she said into something Yamada could understand. By the time the session was over, Yamada was fully assured he could past the next test. He shook both their hands and skipped out happily. Moshi turned at Usagi and gaped at her with huge eyes. "If you can do that for him, why can't you do that yourself?!" Usagi shrugged, putting her notebook away. "Spend enough time around you two and you pick up a few things. Plus it's different if it's someone else and not yourself." "Yare yare!" Moshi said, slapping her forehead with a palm. Usagi looked at her wristwatch. "Ooh, almost seven, we'd better get going!" Moshi grumbled. She hated this curfew thing her mother imposed on the both of them. At least with Mamoru, she had to call and tell him where she was if she was going to be a bit late. At Usagi's house, she once stepped in half-past eight and Ikuko went ballistic. "Yeah, we'd better. I don't think my butt can take another spatula attack," Moshi said, gathering her belongings and standing up. * * * * For once in the entire time Moshi was there, she was able to get Usagi to sit down and do her homework first, before doing anything else. And since they started as soon as they got home, they were finished before 8:30, when Sailorv came on television. "I'm really proud of you!" Moshi said as they sat down after dinner and turned the television on. "You actually did your homework first!" Usagi shrugged nonchalantly. "I was in a homework mood, especially after being in the library all that time." Moshi snorted. "Rei-chan would have a spastic fit if she saw what you did today." One blonde eyebrow quirked over a blue eye. "Really? Then I must tell her next time we see her." Both started laughing at the image of Rei's jaw dropping at the news of Usagi doing her homework. Suddenly, Moshi's wrist communicator started beeping. She looked around and flipped the top open. "Moshi here, what's up?" Makoto's face came into view. "Is Usagi-chan with you?" "Hai," Moshi responded as Usagi put her head next to Moshi. "We think there's another possession, this time in the park. See if you can slip out!" Before Moshi could answer, Usagi wailed. "Aww, Mako-chan, Sailorv just came on!" "Never mind her, we'll be there in fuku!" Moshi replied, closing the lid of her communicator. "Let's go!" Usagi unclipped her brooch from her fuku and grumbled. "Can I at least change first?!" Moshi, who already had changed to her purple jumper, laughed. "Hurry up!" "Fine, fine," Usagi muttered, heading for the stairs. * * * * When Sailormoon and Sailorutopia finally made the scene, the rest of the inner Senshi had a man pinned against a tree, his eyes were glowing orange and his dark hair stood up in spikes on his head. "OK, what spirit do we have this time?" Utopia asked as Venus, who had another chain out. "I'm not sure, he just seems really pissed off!" Venus said with a grunt, as he tried to pull against the chain. "I guess they've ran out of emotions," Mars said with a smug expression. "No, actually we're going to take it up a notch," a voice said and a beam of bright energy came from a tree, scattering the Senshi in every directions. Utopia jumped to her feet first and scanned the area. "What the hell!?" she roared, calling forth one of her boomerangs. A girl walked forward from the darkness. She was dressed in a fuku much similar to Utopia's but the colors on her skirts were reversed. The yellow skirt was on top, followed by purple then white. Her black eyes were covered with a mask. It didn't take a genius to see who this was. It was Toshi and she looked ready to cause damage. "I knew it, I just knew it!" Utopia roared, heaving the boomerang without a moment's hesitation. Toshi sidestepped the boomerang as it neared her. As it passed her, it fizzled away into nothing. Growling, Utopia whipped out more boomerangs and each time the boomerang fizzled into golden dust. She looked at her hands and shook her head. What was happening! "You can't attack her!" Mercury cried. "She's basically you, so your powers aren't working!" She put her computer away and released a Shine Aqua Illusion that held Toshi fast in her tracks. As Toshi struggled against the icy bonds, Jupiter raced forward and planted a fist against one of her cheeks. With a loud groan, Toshi crumpled to the ground, her feet still encased in ice. Not waiting to be told, Sailormoon brought her tier out. By the time she finished powering up, Toshi was awake and struggling against her bonds again. "Silver Moon Crystal--" she stopped as the tier suddenly fell apart in her hands and to the ground useless. A loud blanket of silence covered the Senshi as they all witnessed the crumpling of the Eternal Tier. Toshi took this as her chance to chip away at the ice with her energy blasts. "What the hell happened?!" Utopia cried, picking up the two halves of the tier and handing them to Sailormoon. Moon shook her head, her blond pigtails flying. "I don't know, I felt the same rush of power and it just broke!" "Look out!" Mars warned. A beam of energy came flying from Toshi's outstretched hands and scattered the Senshi once again. This time it was a flurry of attacks and dodging. For every attack the Senshi threw, Toshi threw one back. Utopia tried to calm things down by performing a fluorescent screen. This blinded everyone except Toshi, who was still wearing a mask, and herself. "Now I got you!" Utopia cried. She held her arm in the air, palm facing up. A small beam of light appeared in her palm and started to grow in size. "Ball Lightning!" She heaved the ball of lightning at Toshi. "That's all you got?!" Toshi exclaimed as she ducked out the path of the ball of lightning. Behind her, still blinded by the purple light, Sailormoon was rubbing her eyes. Utopia's eyes grew large in fright when she saw who her attack was actually going to hit. "Sailormoon! DUCK NOW!" she screamed. "Nani?!" Sailormoon said and that was when it hit. The lightning slammed into her brooch, cracking the exterior. The second the brooch cracked, she was released from her transformation, left standing in her regular clothing. Usagi's skin turned translucent and the background could clearly be seen through her. Lightning crackled around her as she felt herself start to slowly fade into nothing. In a split second, there was a large explosion and a puff of white feathers fell to the ground in a pile. "USAGI!" Mars roared, racing over to the site where Moon was last standing. "What have you done?!" Jupiter cried to Utopia, who was still standing rooted to the spot in total shock. "I didn't mean to! I didn't mean to!" Utopia cried. She raced over and fell to her knees, gathering a large pile of the feathers in her arms. She felt Mercury's arms around her shoulders as she tried to console her. "It was an honest mistake, anyone of us could have done it." "Oh god, what have I done! Usagi-chan!" Utopia cried, burying her face in the feathers. * * * * When Usagi came to, her muscles ached and she felt like a fish stick. Never in her life had she felt such a shock. "I guess Mo-chan has gotten stronger," she mused as she felt her body waking up in sections. What had awakened her was the warm sunshine on her face and the warm breeze that ruffled her clothing, swirling around her arms and legs. "Ah, you're awake?" a voice said, which caused her to look around in confusion. She looked to her right and saw a woman in a dark brown silk dress standing over her. Her black hair was pulled back in a tight braid that tailed nearly past her knees. From her memory, she remembered her as Gaia, Queen of the Earth. "Gaia-sama?" Usagi asked. Gaia put out a hand and helped Usagi to her knees. "Hai, Princess. It is I, Gaia. There is someone here to see you." Usagi felt the warmth in the woman's slender hand. "Who?" "Come with me, you'll see." Together, hand in hand, Gaia and Usagi walked through the open fields, towards a golden palace. Roses on vines swirled around the palace doors, large and in full bloom, thick with thorns and petals. "Kirei..." Usagi whispered in awe. The serenity of the palace was incredible. The atmosphere seemed to be trapped in a permanent spring. It wasn't hot, wasn't cold, but just right. They walked up the golden steps, the full skirts on Gaia's dress floated about her feet as they entered the doorway. Inside, Gaia released Usagi's hand and asked her to follow. They walked down the expansive hallway, decorated with portraits of the lineage of the earth family. The only one that triggered her memory was the picture of Endymion posing with his five generals. She saw the woman with the white hair standing next to her twin with slightly darker hair. She saw the steely determination in the gray eyes. It was Mosite, it had to be. So no matter what happened, Moshi was part of the earth kingdom, no matter how she looked at it. The paused before two large double doors. "In here," Gaia said and pushed on the golden doors that opened into a large antechamber. There was a opening with French doors on the eastern side that looked out into the Elysion fields. A woman in a silver dress stood before the window, feeling the breeze on her face. Her silvery hair was done in odangos and her pigtails flowed like silver rivers over her shoulders, nearly touching the floor. When the doors opened, she turned and the crescent moon on her forehead, held in place by thin chains, winked in the sunlight. "Here she is, Serenity," Gaia said, stepping into the hallway and closing the doors behind her. Usagi felt her face tremble. She hadn't seen Queen Serenity in years. The last time she saw her was when she gave her the cutie moon rod. "Mother?" "Serenity, it's been years since I've last seen you," Queen Serenity said, her blue eyes welling with tears at the site of her daughter. Usagi rushed forward and hugged her mother, feeling tears fight their way out her eyelids and down her cheeks. For what seemed an eternity, mother and daughter remained locked in an embrace that spoke volumes of how they felt for one another. Finally, Serenity pulled away and looked Usagi in her face, wiping away some of her tears. "My daughter, this is going to be the greatest fight of your life," "What do you mean?" Usagi asked, stepping back slightly. Serenity walked over to a table and picked up the moon stick. "They say the greatest enemy is yourself and that's who you'll be facing, yourself. I have come to give you two gifts." "Gifts of what kind?" Usagi asked, looking at the moon stick in the Queen's hand. It had been over two years since she last used that weapon. Serenity held the moon stick out and the handle grew until it was a long staff made of pure crystal. The moon on top grew in size, surrounded by a silver halo. "This is the strongest weapon we have outside of the Ginzuishou. The Silver Crystal Imperial Staff, made of crystal from the Ginzuishou." She handed the staff to Usagi. When Usagi grabbed the staff, it shrunk in size back to the shape of the moon stick and vanished in a puff of white smoke. Before she knew it, she was back in her fuku, wings and all. "Nani?" Serenity reached out and tapped the brooch with a finger, the white casing turned into a crystal star and Sailormoon felt the warm light from the symbol on her forehead. The warm light encased her and vanished, leaving her back in her regular clothing. The brooch was now different. It wasn't white with rainbow decorations, it was now a crystal star, with jagged edges pointing in different directions. "Now you say Silver Moon Crystal Power, make up! The rest will come to you!" Usagi nodded. "Hai, mother!" She held her new brooch in the air and yelled, "Silver Moon Crystal Power, make up!" A chime reached her ears as the locket open and feather bloomed forth, surrounding her body and changing her clothing into the fuku of Eternal Sailormoon. There were changes, but subtle changes. Her brooch was now a star and her wings were now real wings with feathers. Near the rounding part of the wings, there were two gold clasps "Hurry, your friends are in trouble. I wish we could spend more time, but other matters are at hand," Serenity said with a sad expression on her face. Sailormoon hugged her mother again. "So do I. Farewell, I hope to see you again. Mother." She turned to leave and then realized something. Just how do she get out of here? "Uh, one question," Moon said, turning back around to her mother. "Just how do I get back?" Serenity pointed out the window towards a cliff. "Go to that cliff and jump, your wings will take care of the rest." "Hai!" Moon exclaimed, going through the double doors and racing down the hallway. She skipped down the stairs, noting how much faster she was running, thanks to her new wings. She didn't see Gaia on her way out, but continued towards the spot where Serenity had pointed out to her. She skidded to halt when she neared the edge, seeing an abyss looming out below her. "I hope these things work!" she moaned, testing the wings to see if they would flap to her will. There was first a twitch, but before she knew it, they were flapping madly, lifting her off her feet. "Here we go!" Moon screamed as she stopped flapping and felt herself plunge into the darkness below. * * * * Utopia was too distraught to fight on. She sat on the ground holding the feathers in her arms with tears streaming down her face. Meanwhile, the others were keeping Toshi at bay. It seemed no matter what attack they unleashed on her, she simply batted them off and laughed. Mercury was tapping on her computer, searching for a weak spot when a large boom overhead caught her attention. "What was that?!" she asked, looking up into the sky. Everyone stopped fighting for a second and looked up. A bright light flew through the sky, stopped short, and seemed to be falling downward. As the object got closer, they could see it was a body adorned with wings. "Usagi?" Mars pondered. Sailormoon was free falling, and fast. Her arms were stretched out to buffet the wind against her. Her wings were outstretched and flapping madly in the wind. The closer she got to the ground, the faster the wings flapped until she was hovering a foot above the ground. Utopia looked up and dropped the pile of feathers. "Sailormoon?!" "Hai, I'm fine," Moon responded, gently landing on her feet. The wings collapsed against her back, the golden tips twinkling in the moonlight. She reached into subspace and pulled out the moon stick. Once it touched her hand, the staff extended and the crescent moon on top grew in size and the silver halo appeared. She twirled the crystal staff over head and slammed the end into the ground. "Silver Moon Celestial Twilight!" Toshi saw the stars in the sky above twist and churn as a dark funnel slammed into the end of her staff. She could feel the forces at work as she tried to move backwards out of the path of the attack. The crescent moon atop the staff glowed brightly and shot out a streaming tunnel of energy towards Toshi, burning the ground as it steamed a path towards its target. Toshi let out a loud scream as the tunnel slammed into her, sending her sprawling on the ground. Bruised and crushed, Toshi pushed a button on her bracer and she vanished, leaving nothing but scorched ground. The staff vanished from Moon's hands and she collapsed to her knees. Never had any of her attacks been that strong. This was going to take some getting use to. "Sailormoon!" her friends cried as they rushed to her side and helped her to her feet. Utopia still had tears in her eyes. "Gomen nasai! She jumped out of the way and you didn't see it coming!" Moon put a hand on Utopia's shoulder. "Daijoubu! It didn't hurt...too much. I can tell, you have gotten stronger like Mamo-chan." Utopia nodded. "I felt it too." * * * * Kakoto nursed Toshi's wounds as Ainako paced nervously around the room. "Just why in the hell did you take them on BY YOURSELF!" Toshi winced as Kakoto put more salve on one of the burns. "Because, I thought I could handle them. Now Sailormoon's powered up and we're in deep shit." Ainako whirled on Toshi. "No way, you're in this BY YOURSELF!" she cried, stomping out and slamming the door behind her. Toshi sighed and settled down on the bed and let Kakoto finish nursing her wounds as she tried to formulate another plan in her head. So far, out of the rest of the Senshi, Mercury was now the weakest. They had to strike at the weakest point and the rest would fall like dominos. Mimi walked in, clucking her tongue. "Dude, I told you that was a bad idea, shoulda went with my idea." "Quiet, you idiot!" Toshi roared. "Since you're such a genius, put your plan in order anyway." Mimi grinned. "Righteous. We'll see who wins this time, dude." Toshi sighed. "I have a headache! Oshimai da yo!
