When she lifted her shirt an ugly purple bruise glared back at her. When Usagi saw the bruise, she winced. So on the couch she sat with Usagi and Mamoru acting as bookends. They were quietly waiting, Chibimo and Miko sat together on the floor near the couch, both silent and lost in their own thoughts. Out on the balcony, the ex-general was pacing and cursing under his breath. A knock at the door caught Chibimo's attention. Jumping to her feet, she padded to the door and opened it. "Rei-san, I'm glad you're all here. Something terrible has happened," she said quietly, stepping back and letting the rest of the inner Senshi enter the apartment. It took every ounce of Rei's strength not to explode at the sight she saw. Moshi was deathly quiet with an air of eerie stillness that permeated the area around her. If her eyes weren't open and she wasn't breathing, Rei would have sworn she was dead. Rei may not have exploded, but Makoto definitely did. Her emerald eyes flashed with fire as she walked over to her friend on the couch. "Mo-chan, tell me what happened. Did he really hit you?!" Moshi looked at Usagi sideways and sighed loudly. Usagi looked up, her own eyes were soft, almost weepy. "Yes, he did." "That son of a bitch!" Makoto exploded, shaking off the worried hands Ami and Minako had on her shoulders. "When I see him, I'm going to twist him into a pretzel!" Usagi shook her head. "It was an accident. Jadeite and Hoshi were fighting and Moshi tried to break it up." Makoto seemed to calm a bit by the explanation, but the fire in her eyes was still present. "It's still not right." Mamoru sensed Moshi trembling slightly, when he turned to look at her, he saw tears slowly rolling down her cheeks, making splotches on her tee-shirt. He grabbed a tissue from the kleenex box on the table and dabbed at her eyes. Usagi saw the crying and quickly gathered her friend in her arms. Feeling the protective embrace, Moshi finally started to cry. "I know he didn't mean it, but it...it ...it..." She couldn't finish the sentence as the tears clogged her throat. For the first time since they've known her, the Senshi saw Moshi sob openly and quite loudly. Quietly they moved closer, each placing a hand on her to comfort her. The gentleness of their touches only made her cry harder. Moshi was overwhelmed by a flurry of emotions. She hated it. It seemed no matter how hard she tried, the gap between her and Hoshi continued to grow by leaps and bounds. Having Jadeite back in the picture DEFINITELY didn't make it any easier. She felt pulled between two worlds. Jadeite jealous of Hoshi, Hoshi jealous of Jadeite, she couldn't take it anymore. There was no denying her feelings, she cared for them both. She took a tissue from Mamoru and wiped her eyes. "If I didn't have any emotions, I wouldn't be in this mess." A lone tear sneaked from her closed lid and touched the brooch on Usagi's chest. The second the tear hit the eternal compact, it open with a tinkle and a bright white light filled the room. Everyone yelled and covered their eyes. What was happening?! Jadeite heard the noise from the balcony and he rushed in, using his power of flight to move faster. "Kami-sama!" * * * * For at least twenty minutes, Hoshi sat on the sidewalk in shock. He couldn't believe that she would actually step in front of the punch like that. Why would she do something as crazy as that? He could still feel the icy chills from Mamoru's threat. He'd never see his friend that angry before. Of course, he couldn't blame him. He'd just caught the tail end of what seemed bad. No brother would ever want to see his sister getting hit on by her boyfriend. The thought never crossed his mind, he would NEVER want to hurt her and definitely not physically. Feeling hot tears slide down his cheeks, Hoshi slowly got to his feet and headed for home. Like a zombie, he stalked the streets, heading for his home like a pigeon heading back to its coop. When he made it to his apartment door, his father was standing there waiting. Koichi took one look at his son and quietly ushered him into the apartment. "Hoshi, what's wrong?" Koichi asked worriedly. Hoshi looked up at his father, tears still streaming down his cheeks. "I screwed up, too-san. I screwed up! I got into a fight and Moshi stepped in to stop it and I accidentally hit her!" "No," Koichi started. Hoshi continued, "Her brother thought I hit her on purpose and all I could see was her eyes. Oh god, her eyes." His voice broke on the last word and he broke down completely. * * * * The light slowly faded and everyone rubbed their eyes. It took a moment for everyone to regain their sight. Jadeite's gasp caught the attention of everyone in the room. "What is it?" Rei asked, squinting at Jadeite. Jadeite pointed at Moshi and stammered. "Look at her!" Slowly, everyone looked at Moshi and a collective gasp filled the air. Moshi would have looked back at everyone, except she was encased entirely in stone. If was as if an artist quickly came in, made a stone statue and quickly snuck out. "Oh no," Ami said, her hands quickly covering her mouth. "What happened?!" "I don't know!" Usagi exclaimed, gingerly touching the statue's cheek. It felt like a rock. "Maybe when she made that comment the ginzuishou thought it was a wish!" Minako exclaimed. "It wouldn't be the first time it granted a wish!" A loud crash from down the hallway caught everyone's attention. "That came from her room!" Mamoru exclaimed, vaulting to his feet and heading down the hallway with everyone else in tow. They skidded to a stop outside her bedroom. Another loud crash and a curse reached their ears. Mamoru threw the door opened and the sight before them caused everyone to yell. Inside Moshi's room was Moshi. Matter of fact there was more than one Moshi. If you took a quick count you'd come up with six Moshi's. Makoto's voice broke the silence. "What the hell?!" A Moshi quickly walked up to the group and laughed. "Hi! Come in there's room for more!" She turned and bounced back to the bed where another Moshi was sitting. One Moshi was sighing loudly and kept looking at something in her hands. Two Moshi's were sitting on the floor arguing. One Moshi was crying and another was destroying the room. "Oh goodness, what in the world..." Mamoru stated. "Hey wait, all their hair bows are different. Chibimo commented. Looking again, they noticed Chibimo was right. All the hair bows WERE different colors. One was pink, white, black, blue, red and yellow. The one destroying the room, screaming and cursing had a red hair bow. The two that was arguing on the floor had a white bow and black bow. The one crying had a blue bow and the one with the yellow bow was giggling and smiling and the one with the pink bow was cupping her hands to her chest and sighing softly. Mamoru stepped back and closed the door. "What in the world was THAT!" "If I can take a guess," Ami started, feeling everyone's eyes turn to her. "Moshi wished she didn't have emotion and her tear caused the ginzuishou to grant her wish." "Right!" Chibimo chimed in. "It turned her to stone and set all her emotions loose!" "Correct," Ami said. "Somehow, we've got to piece her back together or else she's going to be stone for good." "And that's NOT what we want, right?" Minako asked. "Definitely!" Ami exclaimed. The door to Moshi's room flew open with a bang and the one with the red hairbow thrashed through the group. "Get the hell out of my way," she growled, shoving Miko into a wall and making her way to the front. Acting quickly, Mamoru grabbed the red hair bowed Moshi and shoved her back into the room. "Oh no you don't!" "You bastard!" Red-Moshi cursed, struggling against Mamoru's grip. "Who the hell do you think you are?! LET ME GO!" A litany of curses flew from her mouth as she tried to get Mamoru to let her go. Face faulting, Jadeite asked, "Let me guess, she's anger." Yellow-Moshi bounded up to the pair. "Why are you holding her?" she asked with a giggle. "If anything, I bet she was being bad again." "And I guess she's happy," Minako added, following the rest into the room. As they ventured deeper into Moshi's room, Rei tripped on the outstretched foot of Moshi with the black hair bow. Rei went flying, landing on Ami, which caused both girls to tumble to the floor in a heap. Black-Moshi laughed and snickered, pointing at the two on the floor. "Have a nice trip, see you next fall!" Throwing her head back, she laughed loudly. That is, until Moshi with the white hair bow smacked her hard on the arm and started to chastise her. White-Moshi's face was red. "You know that wasn't right!" She got to her feet and helped Ami and Rei up. "I'm sorry about that, She's always so bad." "And those two are good and bad," Mamoru supplied, sitting Red-Moshi onto a chair. He grabbed a belt handing on the closet door and gave Red-Moshi and evil glare. Surprisingly, Red-Moshi didn't even make a sound as she sat still. "Now that we've got that settled," Makoto started. "We know what the Red, Yellow, White and Black bows are, what are the other two?" Minako tipped over to the bed and peered over Pink-Moshi's shoulder. "I'm guessing this one is love here, she's sighing over a picture of Hoshi-san and... NANI?! Jadeite!?" "Hee!?" Usagi exclaimed, quickly crossing the room and peering over Pink-Moshi's shoulder. "Wow, there are two pictures!" Usagi started to grin. "Oooh, now I see, Mo-chan's in love with TWO guys!" Minako sighed and crossed her hands over her heart. "I only know that situation too good. I once had to pick between two guys." Artemis sighed. "Yeah, and remember they were from the Dead Moon." Minako gripped Artemis' tail and yanked. "That doesn't matter, what mattered was I chose both!" Before anyone else could say anything, Blue-Moshi started to sob even louder, her shirt was drenched with the amount of tears she was producing. "And that one would be sadness," Rei said. Throwing her hands in the air she asked, "Now that we know what they are, how do we piece her back together!?" Everyone in the room shrugged, even the two cats. For the first time since being forced to sit down, Anger spoke. "What if we don't WANT to be back as one." Bad piped up from her corner. "Yeah, it's enough having to deal with these other versions, but now, I'm on my own!" she howled with an evil expression across her face. Mamoru decided THAT was the Moshi to keep a firm eye on. * * * * Outside of Hoshi's apartment building, a man in a dark trench coat stared up at the window that was Hoshi's bedroom. His stormy gray eyes narrowed with hate as a snarl ripped across his lips. "You will die..." he muttered under his breath as he removed his trench coat. Clad in dark jeans, boots and tee shirt, the man's dark hair made his entire outfit look dangerous. Leather finger-less gloves encased each hand as he balled them into a fist. A .45 in a holster was strapped to his left-thigh. Walking over to the fire escape, the muscles in his thighs bulged as he started the trek up to Hoshi's room. * * * * Hoshi had just left the bathroom from where he splashed cold water onto his face. His cheeks were still ruddy and his eyes looked swollen from crying. Walking into his bedroom, he sat at his desk and stared at his image in the mirror. He was noting how huge his face looked when he heard a small sound like a pop come from the fire escape. A flash of fire hit his cheek as his mirror shattered into a million pieces. Gasping, Hoshi turned and saw the man in black on his fire escape. "Damn, I missed," he growled. His finger eased towards the trigger. "I won't miss again." In most situations when a person is faced with danger, they will do either two things: fight or flight. Adrenaline kicked in and Hoshi chose flight. He jumped to his feet, over turning his chair and storming down the hallway. His father heard the commotion and came from the living room, only to see his son's frantic expression as he tore down the hallway. Before Koichi could even ask what was happening, he heard a soft pop and Hoshi screamed. "GET DOWN!" Hoshi yelled as he felt a sting on his right shoulder. Father and son tumbled to the ground. Hoshi grabbed his father and rolled into the bedroom. Making sure his father was OK, Hoshi took a risk and ran back into the hallway, heading for the front door. Before he could get the door open, he felt a hand grab the injured shoulder and turn him around. Hoshi yelped in pain when he saw the man's face. Thick black eyebrows were knitted together over eerie gray eyes. Ice skittered down Hoshi's spine as his own eyes rounded in fright. "Don't take this personally," the man said as he leveled the .45 with Hoshi's forehead. "Just think of it as a lesser of two evils." A sound that could be called a chuckle escaped his throat as his finger started to pull the trigger. * * * * In the Chiba residence, it was utter chaos as usual. Mamoru felt the urge to rip every strand of his black hair from the root as the six Moshis continued to chatter about in their own manner. Anger and Bad were REALLY getting on his last nerve. The others weren't so bad; the Inners had lulled them out into the living room and were dealing with them quite well. He had the job of watching the worst sides of her personality. "I swear if you two don't stop, you're going to see MY bad side and MY anger!" he roared at the two Moshis. At the sound of his voice, the two reared back in fright and actually grabbed at one another. A scream came from the living room, grabbing their attention. Bad and Anger rushed from the room, leaving Mamoru to wonder, what was it NOW? The Moshi with the pink bow, Love, was trying to leave out the front door amongst a group of arms keeping her pinned in place. Her eyes were closed as she scrabbled for the front door, vainly trying to get out and go wherever it is she had in mind. Mamoru growled for the tenth time that night. "NOW what is it!?" he roared, standing in front the door. Love opened her eyes, tears forming in them. "Hoshi's in trouble!" Chibimo suddenly snapped into action. "What do you mean?!" she asked, grabbing Love by the shoulders and making her face her. Love sighed. "He's here to hurt him! We've gotta save him!" "HE?!" Chibimo and Miko exclaimed in unison. * * * * Hoshi closed his eyes and prayed that the bullet wouldn't hurt. He heard a loud thump and felt the hand let go of his shirt. Opening his eyes, he saw his father armed with a baseball bat standing over the body of the fallen man. "Whoa, too-san!" Hoshi exclaimed. Hoshi had never seen his father so irate, let alone armed with a lethal weapon. Koichi kicked the man's gun away and flung the bat to the side. Not speaking, he quickly ushered the man's unconscious form to a chair and proceeded to tie him up using sailor knots. When he was finished, Koichi grabbed his son in a hug. Both Tenchinos trembled with fear now surging since the threat was removed. The man's head snapped up quickly, making both men jump away in fright. "The hell?" he exclaimed as he strained against his tethers. "Uh, didn't you hit him kinda HARD!?" Hoshi asked, looking at his father. Koichi scratched his head in confusion. "Better than anything I ever hit since my college days!" The man spat at their feet, snarling. "You couldn't knock a kitten out with that swing." Hoshi quirked one dark red eyebrow. "You were out long enough for us to tie you up." He resisted the urge to pull one eyelid down and stick out his tongue. Koichi made sure to move the gun to another room. He returned later with his cell phone. "I don't know why you attacked my son but the police will be here in minutes." Feigning indifference, he shrugged. "So, your police won't save Hoshi." Two pairs of green eyes grew round. "Why are you after me?!" Hoshi exclaimed. "I don't even KNOW you!" The man smirked. "It doesn't matter if you know me or not. What matters is how fast I can get rid of you and my sisters." Koichi looked at Hoshi. Both shrugged in confusion. Hoshi twirled one finger near his temple. It was obvious this man was a looney. "Shi and Miko thought they were slick, but I'll show them who was quicker!" he growled, straining against the ropes again. At the mention of Shi and Miko, Hoshi's ears perked. The names sounded familiar, as he thought harder, he realized that they were Moshi's friends from school! "Why do you want to hurt them!?" "I don't need to tell you anything!" the man roared, straining one last time and the ropes fell apart. Pandemonium hit the household as he lunged at Hoshi, wrapping his hands around his throat. Koichi was spurred into action as he leaped on the man, throwing all of them to the ground. Koichi slipped a half nelson onto the man, freeing Hoshi from his grip. "Run!" he ordered, applying more pressure and making the man's face turn blue then purple. "I'm not leaving you!" Hoshi exclaimed. "Shimatta, Hoshi!" Koichi cursed. "I said RUN! He's after you not me!" Hoshi jumped to his feet and ran for the door. Giving one last look at his dad, he hit the hallway heading for the exit. "Mamoru-kun can help me." he thought as he ran down the stairs and exited the apartment complex. * * * * "Oh this is bad," Miko said as she paced with Chibimo. Chibimo had a hand under her chin as she paced. "We didn't foresee this. He had no knowledge of us coming here... unless..." Both girls turned and looked at Jadeite. Jadeite felt a cold drop of sweat slide down his face. "I'm innocent!" "Yeah, right," Rei snorted, earning a swat on the arm from Minako, who glared at her. "We'd better get moving," Chibimo said, bringing her wand to bare. "Since she can track him we should take her." She nodded to Love, who quickly jumped to her feet. "Let's go," Miko said. "Matte!" Usagi exclaimed, standing in front of the door. "Aren't you going to tell us what's happening!?" Miko's eyes softened. "Gomen, Usagi-sama. This is me and Onee-chan's mess that you can't fix." The two quickly transformed with an utterance of words and few flashes of light. To everyone's surprise, Love transformed as well into a modified fuku of Sailor Utopia. The parts that should have been white were sugar pink, matching the bow on her head. "Well, that answers THAT question," Jadeite muttered. * * * * Hoshi ran to Mamoru's as quick as he could. His breath was coming in shallow pants as he felt a sharp pain in his side. He continued on, his run turning into an almost drunken stagger. He felt that he couldn't run anymore and started to collapse, his eyes closed. Expecting to feel the cold ground, he felt a warm body and arms enveloping him. Opening his eyes and looking up, he saw Moshi's violet eyes looking back, shimmering softly in the darkness. "Moshi..." he whispered as he fainted. * * * * Koichi continued to wrestle with the man, trying vainly to keep the half nelson locked on him. The man bucked like a wild horse, trying to slam Koichi into walls and furniture. Just when he thought the mad man might pass out he quickly flipped Koichi and threw him into the wall. The professor's unconscious form slid to the floor and landed in a heap. The man retrieved his handgun and replaced it in the holster. "That punk," he growled. * * * * Mamoru helped Chibimo usher Hoshi into the apartment. His shirt was tacky with blood that oozed from a nickel-sized wound on his shoulder. The younger man fought as Mamoru tried to wrestle the shirt away from the wound. Hoshi howled with pain as he felt the skin rip from the force Mamoru used to reveal the wound on his shoulder. He resisted the urge to plant a fist across Mamoru's face. The Senshi watched in fright as Ami appeared with towels to stop the steady stream of blood oozing from the wound. Together, Ami and Mamoru scanned the wound on Hoshi's shoulder. "I think the bullet is still in there, there isn't an exit point in the front," he mused as he poked and prodded near the area. "We'd better get him to a hospital then," Ami stated. Mamoru shook his head. "No time, I better remove it myself." Hoshi's eyes grew wide when he heard Mamoru's statement. He frantically scrambled, trying to get away, but pairs of hands held him in place. A groan escaped Hoshi's lips as he felt Mamoru's hands poking around the wound. He felt a flash of pain before passing out. Mamoru held one hand back and extended his thumb, forefinger, and middle finger. Concentrating, the three fingers shone a soft yellow. He jabbed the three fingers into the flesh, feeling it give slightly around his fingers. With a quick tug, Mamoru felt the bullet dislodge and pop into the air. Ami caught it in a towel and set it on the table. Once he removed his fingers, the skin slowly healed. When Hoshi finally came to, he felt Moshi's arms wrapped around him protectively. His eyes fluttered open and he spied the pink bow on her hair. Pink? Moshi never wore pink bows. "Moshi?" he whispered. "Hai?" she responded, her large violet eyes flushed with tears. He snuggled deeper in her embrace. "Gomen nasai." He blinked and saw Moshi looking down, the blue bow standing out brightly on her hair. Blue? Wasn't she just wearing pink? Hoshi blinked again and saw more Moshis appearing over him with various colored ribbons on their hair. "Oh kami, did I die?!" he exclaimed, jumping from Pink Moshi's lap and looking at the various expressions on the Moshis faces'. He looked to his left and saw a stone statue of Moshi sitting next to him on the couch. "Nan da?!" he yelled, jumping to his feet and wobbling slightly. Rei suddenly ran forward and shoved him hard. Given that he was already wobbling, the sudden shove tipped him over and deposited him on the couch. Love gasped and jumped to her feet, blazing a trail towards Rei. If Ami and Minako hadn't intervened, Rei and Moshi's Love would have started rumbling right there in the apartment. "What was that for?!" Usagi exclaimed, looking from a shocked Hoshi to an enraged Rei. Rei's cheeks were flamed with anger. "He deserved it, especially for the way he's been treating her!" For a few seconds everyone was silent. None would believe that Rei of all people would suddenly speak for Moshi. She huffed and continued. "Over these last months I've seen her become a totally different person all because of YOU!" she exclaimed. "And if you had a lick of sense in that dense head of yours you'd get it together and act right!" "Rei-chan," Love sighed, letting her hands drop to her sides. Makoto started to beam. "Couldn't have said it better myself!" Hoshi had the decency to look ashamed. "I--I didn't know," he stammered softly. "Well now you do!" Makoto exclaimed, earning a firm nod from Rei. "Kami-sama, I didn't know it was this bad," he stated, looking at Mamoru. "You hate my guts too?" Usagi saw the look cross Mamoru's face and she spoke up. "Let's just say you probably would have been in the hospital tonight!" Everyone started to laugh and the tension in the room broke. Once it died down, Minako spoke. "Well, now that's over and we don't feel the need to kick your butt. What happened?" Chibimo and Miko shrugged. "That's how we found him. Luckily for him, she caught him before he passed out." Hoshi suddenly remembered the events earlier. "Some crazy guy broke into our apartment and tried to kill me! If my dad hadn't clocked him with a baseball bat, he would have splattered my brains on the wall." Love let out a shriek of fear and collapsed to the floor, wrapping her arms around Hoshi's legs. Chibimo's violet eyes narrowed. "What did he look like?" "He was taller than me, black hair and these creepy gray eyes," Hoshi said, trying to remember. "Oh yeah, and he knew you two! He said he was after you!" "Shimatta," Chibimo cursed. "I knew that bastard would follow!" She started digging in her pocket, drawing out her henshin wand. Miko quickly followed and both headed for the door. "Wait a second!" Mamoru exclaimed, jumping to his feet. "This is the second time you two are trying to disappear. What's going on!" Miko shook her head. "We can't talk about it. It's OUR problem!" Rei jumped to her feet, her eyes flashing. "Obviously you're not handling it right!" A sound of a door opening came from the hallway. Seconds later the remaining Moshis appeared. Once they reached the living room, they huddled together and started to whisper loudly. Sad peered over Happy's shoulder and glared at Hoshi. Hoshi, feeling slightly embarrassed that this possibly could be *his* fault, shrank back against the couch and felt the cold marble of the statue next to him. Love looked a bit affronted, folding her arms and sniffing delicately. No matter how Happy tried to get her to join the huddle, Love stiffly refused. Mamoru was getting worried, he didn't much like the conspiratorial looks crossing the Moshis' faces as they continued to whisper, every few seconds a different Moshi peered over the group, either glaring or laughing at Hoshi. The Inner Senshi sensed the change in the atmosphere also. Rei, even though she'd roughly shoved him, stood in front of Hoshi, ready to brave any sudden Moshi onslaught. The others quickly took noticed and moved into position. The group stopped whispering and suddenly broke apart. Anger stepped forward and spoke. "We've come to a decision." Mamoru and the Senshi stiffened. They didn't like the fact that Anger was being the spoke person for the group. Anger looked at her fellow Moshis. The different colored ribbons all bobbed as they nodded. She turned back to the others and continued. "We've decided to merge back together." To be continued Oshimai, da yo!
