A Day With The Girls. By: Tory L Brown (tory_brown@yahoo.com)* * * * The sun rose in Juuban that morning, dancing its way through the streets and up the stairs into a small girl's room. The small girl rose and stretched, groaning that she had to go to school that day. Rolling over, she looked at her clock and noticed the day. It was Saturday, no class! Today her and the girls were going to just hang out all day. In a flash, she was from her bed, tying her long ponytails up. She dashed and took a hot shower, she could smell the huge breakfast her mother was cooking, and it made her mouth drool. Apple pancakes, her favorite! Rushing out of her shower, she dug through her closet. She frowned at that pink fuku she wore to class each day and pulled out a plain tee shirt and a pair of purple overalls. Dressing quickly, she headed downstairs where the smell of the pancakes became potent. "Ohaiyo okaa-san!" she smiled, kissing her mother on the cheek. "Today is a beautiful day!" "Ohaiyo, Mo," Miko said, kissing her back. "It is a beautiful day indeed, so beautiful I made your favorite, apple pancakes!" Her mother beamed, placing a large plate of steaming pancakes in the middle of the table. Moshi had hurried so fast downstairs she didn't arrange her ponytails. She munched nosily as her mother fussed about her, straightening her hair, unhooking them from the loop. Honestly Mo, I know you love food, but not to the point where personal grooming is ignored," she chastised, causing Moshi to choke on a piece of pancake. "Gomen, I'll pay more attention to it in the future. I just couldn't help it today. I was hungry!" Moshi said, as she finished off the last pancake. Miko smiled. "It's OK, lets go have our juice on the veranda," she suggested. The two had a nice talk while slowly sipping on their orange juice. Miko made sure that her and Moshi had quality time together, especially since Moshi was usually busy with classes lately. Miko sighed and looked at the sun, today seemed such a lazy day. Tomorrow would begin her month long vacation, a vacation greatly needed. She planned on going to America for a while, but she knew Moshi wouldn't go. Too many bad memories existed in America for Moshi. Her father died while they were in America. Takanera Migando was a gentle and handsome man. Tall as he was nice, he never hesitated to give his wife and daughter a hug when he felt they needed it. He had a pair of the most brilliant violet eyes Miko ever seen. In the future whenever she remembered him, the first thing she saw was his eyes, the same eyes that Moshi had. Miko met Migando at work, at Shinkawa Advertising. The two instantly hit it off. Four years later they were married and were with child. When Moshi was born, the first thing he said to her was "Hello pretty one." and the name Moshi stuck with her. For a few years, the Takaneras lived in Japan. Migando would often travel on business, but returned as soon as he could. When Moshi turned eight, her and her mother moved to America for a short time. Moshi learned English at a young age, but preferred to talk to her mother in Japanese. When she was nine, Migando gave her a book on child's biology. Instantly she was hooked, proclaiming that she wanted to be a Biologist when she grew up. When Moshi was 11, her father came from Japan after a business trip to surprise her for her 12th birthday. The three went out to dinner at her favorite American restaurant, the Olive Garden. On the drive home, a car rammed them from the back, causing Moshi's head to snap so violently that she blacked out. He careened over to the edge of the road, trying to keep the car from falling in the ditch. When they crashed, he dragged his wife and daughter from the wreck. Little did he know he had massive damage to his ribs, each breath he took filled his lungs with blood; If he didn't get attention soon, he would die. As he lay gasping, Moshi opened her eyes and held her father's hand as he died. She was never the same after that moment. It didn't surprise Miko when she said she wanted to go back to America, Moshi left the house in a panic. It was only four years ago, and Moshi's 16th birthday was coming soon. No wonder Moshi hated birthdays, because it was on hers that she lost her father. Miko sighed. She blinked hard, trying to force the tears to go away. "Okaa-san, Daijoubu?" Moshi asked, with worry filling her face. "Daijoubu. I was thinking of Migando again, I miss him," she said as fresh tears spilled down her cheeks, creating small pools on the table's surface. Moshi's violet eyes quivered as they filled with tears also. "I miss otoo-san too, that's why I hate America so, that's why I never want to go back there, that's why I don't want you to go there, you may never come BACK!" a sob escaped her lips, causing Miko to embrace her and hold her. "Oh Moshi," she muttered, pushing Moshi's bangs away from her face. Her throat tightened with grief as the pair embraced each other and cried softly. * * * * Rei looked at her watch again and tapped her foot, Moshi was late, and something had to be wrong. Unlike Usagi, Moshi was rarely late for a meeting. Today was supposed to be their day out. Even Usagi was there on time! "Oh where could she be!" she said, tapping her foot harder. Ami looked up from her Calculus book, carefully marking her spot with her finger. "Rei-chan, why don't you call her?" she said before promptly going back to reading. "I'll call her, since I'm starting to get bored anyway!" Usagi said, leaping to her feet. * * * * Mother and daughter sat in silence, when the ringing of the phone pierced like a knife, interrupting their thoughts. Moshi made a dash for the phone. "Moshi Moshi, Takanera residence, Moshi speaking." "Mo-chan, kore wa Usagi. Are you coming or what? Rei-chan is starting to get angry and you know how I hate it when she gets angry!" Usagi said, gripping the phone. She gasped, she'd totally forgot! "Ack! Gomen, I was talking with my mom and we started talking about dad--" she left off. Usagi blushed, here she was badgering her about being late. "Don't apologize, I'll tell Rei and the others." "Where are you at now?" Moshi asked, quickly changing subjects. Usagi twisted the phone cord around her fingers. "We're still at Rei's waiting and don't forget this time, we want a real slumber party. No more walking out!" "OK, OK, I'm on my way," Moshi giggled. "Ja ne." "Ja ne," Usagi responded, replacing the receiver in it's cradle. Moshi went back into the kitchen to put her dishes away, when her mother appeared. "Who was that on the phone Mo?" "Usagi-chan, she was reminding me that we agreed to study today and tomorrow," she hinted. "I know a slumber party when I smell one. Go on, I'll take over here," she smiled as she bent to give Moshi a hug. Moshi skipped out the kitchen into her room where she packed her clothes and her schoolbooks. * * * * "Well?!" Rei said, nearly shouting in Usagi's ear. Usagi winced, covering her ear. "She forgot... " "Why did she forget!?" Minako interrupted. "Will you let me finish!" Usagi wailed. "She was talking with her mom about her dad. You know he died on her birthday, and her birthday is coming up." Rei blushed, she felt bad, real bad. "I didn't know about the birthday part." Ami only nodded, while Makoto sighed, she knew what Moshi was feeling, having lost both her parents herself. They all sighed in unison as Moshi walked up the front steps. She wondered why they were all sighing. "Ohaiyo, Minna. What's wrong, why are you all sighing?" Moshi questioned as she put her bags in the corner. No one wanted to say anything. It took Miko to say something. "Usagi-sama told us about what happened," she squeaked, as Shi hit her in her back. Moshi blinked. "Oh, don't be sad on my account, it's all said and done. Now what were we going to do today? The day is still young and I have money!" she said, hoping to lift everyone's spirits. Chibiusa said, "Ice cream." "It's too early for Ice cream," Usagi said, causing everyone to gawk at her. "Usagi, not want Ice cream. Amongst us is Armageddon!" Minako said, feigning a look of total horror. Artemis sighed. "That's Armageddon is amongst us. Can she ever get a quote right?" Ami tapped at her computer for a second or so. "Actually, we could really use some practice, seeing how this Imitar is constantly creating sneak attacks." "There goes the morning," Usagi said, starting to whine. "And there goes the whining!" Rei said, sticking her tongue out at Usagi. As usual, the two became involved in a match, creating raspberries at each other. "Rei-sama, Usagi-sama, stop it!" Miko said, breaking into their fight. "The earlier we practice, the earlier we can go on about our day!" Moshi nodded. "I agree!" she said as she pulled her star from her bookbag. "Earth Star Power, make up!" Makoto pulled out her henshin pen. "Jupiter Star Power, make up!" "Venus Star Power, make up!" The light of love surrounded Minako, turning her into Sailorvenus. Ami twirled her henshin pen as she yelled, "Mercury Star Power, make up!" Rei growled at Usagi as she said, "Mars Star Power, make up!" "Come on Miko, let's henshin," Shi said to her sister as she pulled her pen out her pocket. "Paradise Power, make up!" The emotional powers of Paradise turned her into Sailorparadise. Miko was quick to follow, taking her star out of her own pocket and holding it up. "Neo Earth Transform!" "Moon Prism Power, make up!" "Moon Cosmic Power, make up!" Usagi said quickly, becoming Sailormoon * * * * Fifteen minutes later, once every Senshi was accounted for. The nine Senshi headed outside to begin training. Some worked on their hand to hand combat skills, while others practiced their powers. Mars and Earth circled each other, practicing combat. "Now the idea is to fake the other person out," Mars instructed, faking a move to the right, causing Earth to turn that way. "Got it," she responded, closely watching Mars' hands and feet. "Attack me," Mars said, making Earth blink. She shrugged and leaped at Mars. Mars dodged the flying Earth and landed a kick in her stomach. Sailorearth groaned as she rolled over, trying to evade the flying punches. She jumped to her feet and rushed Sailormars again, this time Mars wasn't expecting her to rush. In a tangle of arms and legs, the two scrapped on the ground, pulling each other's hair and screaming at each other. Earth landed one punch in Mars' face, causing the onlookers to wince in empathy. Earth scrambled to her feet, slowly backing away. "Hey don't get mad, you kicked me in my stomach!" she said, looking behind her to make sure she don't trip. "Man, I never seen Mars get cold cocked like that before!" Jupiter whispered to Paradise, who looked on in silence. Mars red face turned an even deeper shade of red. "Fire Soul!" Mars released her attack. Earth screamed and dashed out of the way. She looked down and noticed that her boots were scorched! "You pyro freak!" Earth yelled, trying to assess the damage done to her fuku. "Life Force!" She returned an attack of her own, it caught Mars off guard and slammed her into the ground. Everyone could sense, the battle was becoming for real. Mars pulled out an ofuda. She ran towards Earth. Earth snorted. "What are you going to do, give me a paper cut with the post-it note of death?" "Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen. Akuryou taisan!" she screamed as the ofuda slapped onto Earth's tiara. "KUSO!" Earth cursed as she became paralyzed. She couldn't say anything and her body couldn't move. She tried to scream as she lost her transformation. Back in her overalls and tee shirt, she crumpled to the ground and slowly blacked out. Sailorjupiter gasped and turned to Mars. "Why in the world did you do that!?" she said, glancing at Moshi who laid on the ground stiff as a board. "She even lost her transformation!" Get her inside now!" Artemis ordered. The Senshi transformed back to themselves and ushered her stiff body inside and laid her down. Rei removed the ofuda and Moshi's body suddenly went limp. "Oh boy, talk about putting the cat in the bag!" Minako said. "Artemis, Luna, do you think the ofuda will affect her badly?" Artemis groaned. "That's letting the cat out of the bag, and no I don't think it should affect her too bad, sorta like the way it affected Usagi." Usagi shivered, remembering when Rei hit her with an ofuda. * * * * The dreams. The dreams were blood soaked and death filled. She ran. Trying to escape that face with the gray eyes and white hair. This couldn't be her. That part was dead, long ago dead. She was Moshi, not Mosite. She continued to run, running as if her life depended on it, hell it did depend on it. She ran down a dark hallway that was filled with doors, doors that all led to death. At the end of the hallway were three figures. One was Moshi as she was Sailorearth. Another was Moshi when she was Mosite. The last was one Moshi didn't know. She was tall, with dark hair down to her waist, and a pair of brilliant violet eyes. She was dressed in a knight's armor; her side was adorned with a sword. A female knight? Moshi wondered how could that be. The white haired figure stepped forward. "I know what you're wondering, who we are." Moshi only dumbly nodded, looking at all three. The white haired woman continued. "I am Mosite, I was you over a thousand years ago. I was the one, who defected to the side of the Moon Kingdom, for that, I paid with my life. If it wasn't for Gaia, Mother of the Earth we couldn't have survived." Sailorearth stepped forward and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I am you now, the present. The Sailorearth we've become thanks to the help of Gaia and the other Senshi," she finished and turned to the tall woman with the sword. "Moshi, I am you in the future, granted that Imitar doesn't succeed in killing you. I am the Utopian Knight. Guardian of the freedom of all inhabitants of the Earth. I follow in our brother's shoes as the guardian. I guard life, freedom, and happiness, along with my two daughters. Moshi and Miko." Moshi gasped. Utopian Knight? She was going to be a Knight in the future!? All at once, the memories that she loss came back at her in a rush. The image of lives being created and lives being destroyed in the time she lived, was too much for her to handle. * * * * "I think she's waking up!" Usagi said, kneeling next to Moshi. Rei hurried over, glancing down. "I hope she's OK!" Moshi tossed and turned muttering "Utopian Knight... Sailorearth... Mosite... " At the mention of the last name, she sat up abruptly, causing Usagi to fly backwards into Rei. They both jumped up and went back to Moshi's side. At the same time when Shi heard about the Utopian Knight, she flinched. Miko's eyes opened into large circles and they mouthed at each other the words, 'Utopian Knight'. The two silently vanished from everyone else, hoping they wouldn't stop them and ask them about that. "Mo-chan, Mo-chan, say something are you OK!?" Usagi asked, gently shaking her. Moshi looked blankly at Usagi. "Mo-chan? Why are you calling me Mo-chan?" Rei gasped, "She lost her memory!?" "Memory, bah I haven't lost it. I'm not Moshi!" she spat, as if it tasted horrible to say that. Minako gawked and stared a bit closer. "Um, if you're not Mo-chan. Then who are you?" Moshi sighed audibly in distaste. "I am Hino Rei, a Shinto priestess. I live with my grandfather and I go to T*A Private Girls school! Now move and let me up!" A big sweat broke out on everyone in the room. "It seems that she think she is Rei-chan?" Ami said, clicking again at her computer. "Think? I am Rei," she said going over to the mirror. "Why do I have these stupid odangos on my head!" She undid the odangos, letting her hair flow over her shoulders. "There that's better." She glanced down at her shirt, noticing the henshin star attached to it. She removed the star and tossed it at Rei. "Mo-chan here's your star, I can't believe you left it here. You're becoming like Usagi!" Rei sputtered, becoming enraged. The nerve of some people. "Look, I don't know what kind of game you're playing. It's not funny!" Moshi merely turned her nose up at her. "Whatever Mo-chan." "Oh boy, we are in some serious trouble," Makoto said to Luna, who nodded in agreement.
