The Distant Senshi By: Tory L Brown (tory_brown@yahoo.com)
* * * * Moshi was resting up after her adventure in Imitar's citadel. The other Senshi didn't know if she was going to return to the group or not. Ami had felt that Moshi believed the others betrayed her and only waited till the last moment to come rescue her. It took Makoto and Minako to convince Ami that it wasn't true. Makoto said she had saw Moshi in the shopping district and the two had stopped in a small tea shop. She said Moshi looked tired, but her spirits were up. "Mako-chan, look! Let's stop here for tea!" Moshi cried, dragging the taller girl into the store. They both ordered a cup of green tea and small snack cakes. When she felt safe enough, Makoto asked Moshi, "Mo-chan, the others are worried. Are you mad at us?" Moshi looked at her and laughed. "Iie, Mako-chan! Why would I be mad?!" Makoto plucked a small pastel from the center plate and put it on hers. "Ami-chan thought you felt we betrayed you." Moshi snorted, waving off Makoto's comment with her napkin. "That's silly! Ami-chan should know better! I was resting at home; I was pretty drained from the fight. I've barely had the energy to go to school." Makoto nodded. "I missed you at lunch! I have to keep letting Usagi-chan eat the rest of my lunch." "If she keep this up she's going to be huge!" Moshi said, stuffing her face with another pastel, earning a chuckle from Makoto. "We were wondering. Are you coming back for the meetings?" Makoto asked. "Isn't there one today?" Moshi asked, snagging a few more pastels and dumping them on her plate. Makoto nodded. "Everyone hoped that you would stop by." Moshi chewed on one pastel thoughtfully before swallowing. "I could, I've done my homework for the day." She saw the grin spread on Makoto's face. "I do have some questions to ask you." Makoto put her teacup down. "What kind of questions?" "I'm not telling you!" Moshi teased, snatching the last pastel and gobbling it in one gulp. * * * * Imitar cursed loudly as he threw a lantern on the ground, causing sparks to fly. "How dare that brat and her sister help her escape! I'm back at square one. Shizar-kun, bring your worthless butt in here!" A small man shuffled into the room, bowing his head in great shame. Shizar was the Captain of Imitar's metallic knights. The responsibility of being Captain was fun, it was just this part he hated. Shizar walked towards Imitar's seat and bowed before his lord and master. "You summoned me, Imitar-sama?" Fear prickled the golden mage's words. The black mass that was Imitar nodded what could have been his head. "Hai, Shizar-kun. "It was your guards who ran from the three barely grown girls, why couldn't they contain them?!" he fumed, tendrils of dark smoke emerging from his nostrils. "Um..ahh..well." Shizar began to stammer. "It's their powers, you know once Utopia and Paradise get together, they become very strong! The little Sailorearth was just as strong." "Why do you think, I came back here to kill her! The future of Crystal Tokyo relies on her existence! Bakayarou! You have one more chance! Go to Earth and kill them. If you don't, I will kill you!" he snarled, shoving Shizar out into the hallway Mentally. Shizar shuddered, he'd rather not return if he failed. "It seems I will need my metallic minions for this." He sauntered down the hallway, the snickers of the guards reached his ears, for him to be the Captain, the guards thought of him as a wimp. Opening the large door to his chamber, he went to the bookcase and began to search for his spell books. * * * * Moshi and Makoto parted ways after Moshi promised to stop by Rei's jinja later that afternoon. She was taking her time walking home, humming a j-pop tune under her breath. She was passing the school park of Juuban, when she spied a tall man with lush blond hair exiting the walkway. Moshi felt her heart leap into her stomach as the man stood by the gate, pausing to remove his high school jacket. Glancing at the pocket, she saw Mugen Gakku, Infinite Academy. "Oh my," she breathed, "he's handsome and smart!" Grinning, she walked a little closer, vying to get a closer view of the handsome blond. At closer inspection, she muttered to herself. "Oh, he's bishonen!" She tried to play it off by sitting on the bench, but making sure he was always in her sights. She wanted to go talk to him, but that was more of Minako's forte. She felt that he would think she was too ugly to approach him. "But he's so handsome," she sighed, feeling her heart thumping insanely. "Okay, Takanera! You can do this!" She jumped from the bench and marched towards the blond. He was busy feeling the gentle breeze that flowed through the park. The winds were lifting the hair from his brow as the short strands of hair flared around his head. Fear crept in and forced her to march right back to her seat. She was muttering at herself and twisting her handbag's handle when she didn't notice a person sit down next to her. "Oi, koneko-chan.," the voice said. "How long is it going to take before you say hello?" Moshi looked up at the face. It called her "kitten!" She was ready to reply with a snappy comment when she noticed it was the bishounen from the gate! Across his lap was his Mugen jacket and on the bench was his handbag. A red blush crossed her face. "Was I that obvious?" she asked, looking down at her purple sneakers. The man laughed deeply. "I'll put it like this, if you were any more obvious, you would have ran into me." He laughed as Moshi's face and neck turn redder and she hid behind her bookbag. Moshi tried to put up a brave front. "Well, since we're talking, do you have any plans tonight?" The blond eyebrows rose a few inches in surprise. "Slow down, Koneko-chan! You don't even know who I am!" Moshi flushed again. "I have no manners!" she exclaimed. "Well. Watashi no namae wa, Takanera Moshi!" She stuck out one small hand. The man's larger hand wrapped around hers. "Boku wa Ten'oh Haruka." Moshi felt her face crack. Ten'oh Haruka?! Wasn't that the same Ten'oh that was the famous F-1 racer?! The same blonde girl that Usagi and Minako were always raving about. "Moshi moshi, Moshi-chan?" Haruka said, waving a hand before Moshi's face. "I--I--I didn't know you were a girl!" she blurted, clasping a hand over her mouth when the statement escaped. Haruka chuckled. "What does that have to do with it?" Moshi was now a nice shade of fire engine red. "I --- that is, well! Uh...Ano!" Haruka patted Moshi's hand. "It's okay, really." Moshi shook her head. "No, I made a complete a--fool of myself. I didn't mean any disrespect, Ten'oh-sama!" She added the high honorific, hoping that she didn't truly offend Haruka. At the 'sama,' Haruka's eyebrows rose a few more inches. "Now it's sama?! Really, Moshi-chan, you need to learn some limits." Moshi could have died and fell into the earth at that moment. Sighing, and still bright red, she hung her head down. She felt a tugging on her arm as she looked up into the face of Haruka. "Oi, come on, I'll treat you to a burger," Haruka said, dragging an embarrassed Moshi to her feet. "You mean at Fruit Parlor? That's all the way back that way!" she exclaimed, pointing behind her. "I just walked from there!" Haruka smirked and dragged her over to a red dirtbike and tossed one of the helmets to her. "Who said anything about walking?" Haruka took Moshi's handbag and strapped on top of hers on the back of the bike. "Kakkoi!" Moshi exclaimed. "You truly are a racer!" As she put the helmet on over her odangos, she asked. "Why do you like to race?" Haruka jumped on the bike and motion for Moshi to sit down. "Because, I want to be the wind. Hold on!" "Oh my god, Ten'oh-san!" Moshi cried as she felt the tears whipped from her eyes. "Slow down!" Haruka laughed. "This is as close as I come to being the wind!" She made the dirtbike pop a high wheelie before speeding down the street. Moshi's cry of, "MOMMY!" was heard through out Juuban park. * * * * In his lab, Shizar had found a spell to create a beast. Using arcane words and phrases, long lost to any modern person, he waved his hands above his crystal ball. Sparks of lighting bounced within the prism, creating a rainbow effect. A dark mist arose from the ball, surrounding the mage. When the mist dissipated, a tall woman was left kneeling, head bowed in reverence to her creator. "What is it you wish, Shizar-sama?" she asked, getting up from her one knee position. Shizar grinned. "Well, Kasumi-chan, I want you to go kill her!" he ordered, pointing to the figure of Takanera Moshi pictured in the crystal ball. Kasumi bowed. "Hai, Shizar-sama. Your wish is my command." As the mist beast faded from existence, Shizar cackled to himself. Kasumi would definitely be the one to kill Sailorearth! * * * * Moshi felt the hard glances of every girl in the cafe as Haruka walked in with Moshi in tow. A few whispered and Moshi wanted to climb into her handbag and disappear. If Haruka hadn't had a firm grip on her shoulder, she would have bolted out of the cafe and ran all the way home. Haruka picked the most visible table in the entire cafe, right in the middle of the afternoon crowd. "Couldn't we sit in a booth or something?!" Moshi said, trying to slink low into her seat. Haruka looked at her with amazingly innocent eyes. "Why?" "Never mind," Moshi mumbled, taking a menu and covering her face with it. Haruka only laughed, obviously enjoying the fact that Moshi was squirming like a fish out of water. "I have to go to the washroom, I'll be back," Moshi said suddenly, jumping from her seat. Out of instinct, she grabbed her handbag and took it along with her. "Don't fall in, Moshi-chan, I still have to give you your burger," Haruka caroled at her retreating figure. Once inside the consoling safety of the bathroom, she slid against the door to the floor. Haruka certainly enjoyed her embarrassment, laughing at it in her own way. Moshi couldn't believe she tried to ask her out on a date! She couldn't understand it, Haruka looked like a guy, a very handsome guy at that! Usagi and Minako told her what they did when they first met Haruka, and here she was doing the same thing! "Argh!" she yelled, slamming her fist into her thigh. She knew she looked like an idiot and Haruka only dragged her along to further embarrass her for her rudeness. "Bakayarou," Moshi said to her reflection, looking at the faint red stains that were still present on her cheeks. At this rate, she'd pass from blood loss if she kept blushing like that. She gathered her handbag from the floor and grabbed the handle of the door. That very second she heard people screaming, dinnerware clashing, and tables being turned over. She checked her star and readied herself for transformation. As she rushed from the bathroom, she saw Haruka race out the door. "Ten'oh-san! Matte!" Moshi cried. She dropped her handbag on where her table was still standing and followed. When she was outside, Haruka was nowhere to be seen. People were still fleeing the scene, pushing past her and sometimes bumping into her. "Ten'oh-san!" she cried, cupping her hands around her mouth. Surging through the tide of bodies, she pressed forward. Since they're running one way, she had to go the other. As she passed a small walkway between stores, a strong hand snaked out, grabbing the white sleeve of her fuku, and yanked her into the walkway. Moshi screamed and fought against the arm that was across her neck. "Calm down, it's me!" Haruka said, spinning Moshi around. "Oh, Ten'oh-san! I thought you got hurt! I couldn't find you!" Moshi exclaimed. Haruka smirked. "No, it'd take more than a few tables turning to hurt me." "Well, maybe I could take care of that," a new voice said. Moshi pushed Haruka behind her, throwing her small body into from. She spread her arms wide in a symbol of protection. "Dare!?" Kasumi formed herself from the mist and bowed. "I am Kasumi. A creation of Shizar-sama." Kasumi grew enraged at the look of confusion on Moshi's face. "Ano," Moshi uttered. "Gomen, I don't know who Shizar is!" Kasumi cursed, "Heathen! He will be your undoing!" Moshi snorted. "How much manga did you read?! I swear this dialogue is straight from one of them!" Haruka nudged Moshi. "Making it angry isn't going to do you any good." Moshi shrugged. "I can handle her. I think you better leave. This isn't the place for you." Haruka felt her eyebrows raise for the third time that day. "What are you going to do? Bite her kneecaps off?" Moshi groaned. "Not another short joke. No, I'll just keep her busy." Haruka didn't want to leave the small girl in the clutches of this Kasumi. She had a feeling something was going to happen, she felt it in the wind near the park. Maybe it had something to do with the small girl, she certainly felt an uneasy breeze around her. Kasumi stalked closer, Moshi pressed herself against Haruka, using her small body to slowly push Haruka back onto the sidewalk. Haruka stood still, making it seem like Moshi was pressing against a brick wall. "Gomen, Moshi-chan." "Nani?" Moshi said, turning to look at Haruka. Haruka grabbed Moshi by her shoulders and threw her back onto the sidewalk. A few stragglers, still running, swept her up in their chaotic attempt at escaping. The last thing Haruka heard from her was, "Ten-oh-san!" as she was pulled away by the throng of people. Haruka walked forward. Her sudden movement caused Kasumi to shrink backwards. "What are you doing?!" the golden woman uttered. "I'm just walking, what? You have a problem with that?" Haruka said. "It doesn't matter who I kill, as long as I kill Moshi!" Kasmui roared. A pen appeared in Haruka's hand. "Not as long as I have a say in this. * * * * Moshi was pushing her way back through the crowd. How could Haruka do this! She was the Senshi, not Haruka! She had to make it back, get Haruka out the way and transform. Her communicator was trampled in the rush, so she needed to transform to use her hair jewels instead. "Ten-oh-san!" Moshi cried, pushing past a pair of burly men. She looked up and saw she was near Fruit Parlor again, and she spied the small enclave again. She rushed to the entrance and saw Haruka standing before Kasumi; something like a stick was in her hand. She started to walk forward when she saw Haruka hold the hand with the pen up. "Uranus Planet Power, make up!" Haruka cried, causing a flurry of petals to appear and transform her school fuku into the fuku of Sailoruranus. Moshi felt her jaw drop. A rose petal smacked her cheek and landed on her shoulder. Haruka was Sailoruranus?! "Ten'oh-san!" Moshi yelled. Uranus turned around, and knew instantly that Moshi saw her transform. "You saw?" Moshi nodded, removing the star from her fuku. "Earth Star Power, make up!" Blinding purple light with yellow sparks appeared, surrounding her and turning her into Sailorearth. Uranus' eyes grew large as she saw the small girl transform. "Iie, it can't be! There is another Senshi!" Earth walked forward and stood next to Uranus. "Jinsei to enaajii no, seera fuku bishoujo Senshi, Seera Aasu! Mugendaini kawatte, oshioki yo!" Kasumi snarled. "Just my luck, two Senshi!" "Well your luck has just ran out!" Earth roared. She crossed her fists over her chest. "Power..." A purple aura surrounded her fists. When golden sparks started to splash the aura, she transferred the power to one fist. She ran forward and slammed her fist into the ground. "Gradation!" She leaped into the air, leaving a pillar of purple energy in her wake. The pillar surrounded Kasumi and slowly closed in. Uranus held one hand in the air. A golden light appeared in her palm and as she made a fist, it grew in size. "World Shaking!" She slammed her fist into the ground, a ball of energy tore a path towards Kasumi. Kasumi screamed as the energy hit her, causing her to shake. The interaction between Earth's attack and Uranus' caused a instant explosion. Earth was thrown into Uranus and they both flew backwards against the wall. When Earth came to, Uranus was gone. She put a hand to her star and transformed back into Moshi. She ran to the sidewalk and saw the dirtbike was gone. "Ten'oh-san is Sailoruranus. She was one of the Senshi I saw at the citadel, but the fukus were different!" Moshi pondered. How could it be the same Sailoruranus, but different fukus? Unless those were the future versions of the other Senshi! Saturn did say, "SailorStar," instead of just plain "Sailor." "I wonder who the other Senshi are?" Moshi thought as she grabbed her bookbag from the parlor and headed for home.
